Yet again, no Links of the Week post.
Between Drive-Thru RPG’s Christmas in July sale (which set me back a fair bit of time… and money) and a particularly stupid move on my part setting back one of my projects (Ijust now got back to where I was the other day… more or less) I haven’t spent a lot of time doing much else.
Still, I now know more about WordPress than I really, really wanted to, and gaining knowledge is good. Unless it’s related to Cthulhu Mythos. Or PHP.
It’s hard to tell them apart sometimes.
Just playing some CoC on Tuesdays at the moment. I think we may have done all the research we should have done plus a tiny bit more. When I member of the Swiss Guard starts intoning the rise of an ancient one, it’s time to put the books away…
Shorty, did you mean to post this here? It doesn’t make sense to me.
Ugh wp and php. I moved to a standalone wp install so I could write nifty php scripts for my blog too. And then it took me 6 months to figure out how to get it to work. But if you aren’t trying to do something terribly unique there are some great resources out there for wp snippets.
I’m using standalone WP install. Most of what I’m trying to do is more or less canned, it’s the fiddly stuff I want just so that’s giving me grief… especially since I usually don’t have a lot of time to focus on it and get it done.
I’m a programmer by trade, and PHP is superficially simple enough that I don’t spot the gotchas until they bite me.
In this case I did half a change and forgot, so when I came back I had to figure out how I broke things. It was a nominally trivial thing so I didn’t bother with proper control on it. Bad discipline.
