I had a different post planned for tonight. Let me just say ‘I hate mail merge’ and leave it at that for tonight.
Since that plan didn’t come through, I figured I might as well post the data I was trying to merge.
2025-02-18 Replaced the full tables with excerpts. The full tables made the page hard to edit. You can download the full workbook here.
Card Traits
The first six traits are as my previous post, and consistent with Starfinder’s Galaxy Exploration Manual/Deck of Many Worlds. I’ve added ‘Civilization’ (population density), ‘Planar’ (planar influence or connections), and ‘Climate’ (how hospitable things are). These are subject to change.
- Card # helps me discuss the cards.
- Label is optionally (and only rarely) used… yet. It’ll be in the same place as the card body text on other cards.
- Traits 1..6 are traits that will be on the lower edge of the card.
- Traits 7..9 are traits that will be on the right edge of the card.
Card# | Label | Trait1 | Trait2 | Trait3 | Trait4 | Trait5 | Trait6 | Trait7 | Trait8 | Trait9 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
7 | Accord | Good Evil | Law Chaos | Magic | Religion | Tech | Civ | Planar | Climate | |
8 | Accord | Civ | Good Evil | Law Chaos | Magic | Religion | Tech | Planar | Climate | |
9 | Accord | Good Evil | Law Chaos | Magic | Planar | Religion | Tech | Civ | Climate | |
10 | Accord | Good Evil | Law Chaos | Magic | Religion | Climate | Tech | Civ | Planar | |
11 | Accord | Civ | Good Evil | Law Chaos | Magic | Tech | Religion | Planar | Climate | |
12 | Accord | Good Evil | Law Chaos | Magic | Planar | Tech | Religion | Civ | Climate |
Card Markers
In my data, these are actually in the same table as the traits. The table’s just too wide to look decent here, so I split it.
These markers will go along the top edge of the cards. I’ll probably use a nicer symbol than I show here, but for now +/-/= is good enough.
Card# | Marker1 | Marker2 | Marker3 | Marker4 | Marker5 | Marker6 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | + | + | = | = | – | – |
2 | + | + | = | – | = | – |
3 | + | + | = | – | – | = |
4 | + | + | – | = | = | – |

6 | + | + | – | – | = | = |
7 | + | = | + | = | – | – |
8 | + | = | + | – | = | – |
9 | + | = | + | – | – | = |
10 | + | = | = | + | – | – |
11 | + | = | = | – | + | – |
12 | + | = | = | – | – | + |
Doom Cards
When choosing 6 traits of 9, there are 64 distinct combinations. There are 90 distinct sets of markers, if there are two each of positive, negative, and neutral. This left me with 6 unassigned cards… but I think I found a use for them.
Doom cards can be used to modify an age. Use it in place of the normal marker card, and the starred marker shows the nature of the age’s doom. If Card 7 is my Age card, and Card 4 is my Doom, something about ‘Magic’ dooms the age. Or, the doom card can be placed to the side of the age card, and mark those traits. Instead of having two each of positive, negative, and neutral, and ignore three, there can be three of each grade.
Card# | Label | Trait1 | Trait2 | Trait3 | Trait4 | Trait5 | Trait6 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | DOOM | * | |||||
2 | DOOM | * | |||||
3 | DOOM | * | |||||
4 | DOOM | * | |||||
5 | DOOM | * | |||||
6 | DOOM | * |
Alternate Card Markers
In a recent post, I described cards having 3 positive and 3 negative traits, and 3 implied neutral. There are 20 distinct ways to arrange 3+/3- marks. I don’t know what else to do with the cards (traits and body text)… yet.
Card# | Marker1 | Marker2 | Marker3 | Marker4 | Marker5 | Marker6 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
91 | + | + | + | – | – | – |
92 | + | + | – | + | – | – |
93 | + | + | – | – | + | – |
94 | + | + | – | – | – | + |
95 | + | – | + | + | – | – |
96 | + | – | + | – | + | – |
Closing Comments
If you’re familiar with the Deck of Many Worlds, I suspect you’ll see where I’m going with these. If not, that’ll be in a post coming soon.
