Kickstarter: Game Grids

Game Grids

This looks like a great idea for managing the table for certain games (Carassonne being the key one, obviously).  Having had the table disturbed during a game can be immensely frustrating for tile-based games like this, and these grids are designed to prevent exactly that.  Unlike another solution I’ve seen (the rubber mesh ‘toolbox liners’ — which work remarkably well for keeping the tiles stable in play) these can actually be picked up and moved elsewhere if needed.

Grids are 4×4

Compatible games include:

  • Carcassonne
  • Alhambra
  • Tile chess
  • Ark of the Covenant
  • Batt’l Kha’os
Carcassonne is our go-to game at home, and we play Alhambra during our lunch breaks at work.  Either one can be a pain if you’re playing in constrained space, being able to easily move stuff around?  Oh yes.  So, so yes.

The project closes Nov 4 and is currently 20% funded (7,047/34,600).

I’m likely to add another $88 to that: 25-pack, rubber feet, velvet pouch — we use a lot of tiles playing Carassonne.  Protip: Breaking out the entire Big Box means you’ll be there for three or four hours.

Though the 36-pack has appeal too.  How many Carassonne tiles do we have?  I should probably count them first.
