PURGE: Sins of Science – The 1st Real Time Strategy Card Game
I like strategic games and have been thinking about how it might be possible to implement such a thing as a card game. It looks like someone else has the same goal, so I plan to see how they did it.
Six factions divided into three sides (humans, machines, and aliens), each side having two factions with specific Faction Commanders with unique traits, strategies and abilities.
Fixed decks, so there’s no ‘arms race’ of people buying ‘better cards’, and it’s strategic — you simply search your deck for the cards you want to play, assuming you have the resources to pay for them, and play them.
Also, I really like the art I’ve seen so far.
I got in early enough to score the Early Bird Special, too (twice the product for the same pledge — I’ll get two copies of the game, and the first expansion, when they’re done).
The game is already developed, barring someone stepping up with a big pledge that leads to the creation of a new faction or two, so they’re looking at moving into production as soon as they get the funding. I suspect that even so their estimated delivery date of November 2012 is somewhere between aggressive and insanely optimistic… but I’m not in a hurry.
Project closes Oct 31 and is 83% (33,562/40,000) funded.
