I thought about trying to work up a sleestak joke, but it’s been a long day.
I’ve started many series on this blog. Many have been left stagnant as my attention was drawn elsewhere (either on the blog, or in my life outside elf games). This year, I’m going to try to go back and revisit such lost topics, a post a day.
Many of these topic still strike me as good ideas that I want to follow up on. Even beyond general themes (campaign design, scenario design, etc.), I have some specific series I want to come back to.
- Trappings
- Divine Trappings, describing how various domains can influence how a deity and their associated game/setting elements be presented.
- Planar Trappings, description how various planar traits can be more interestingly presented. “Chaotic creatures take a -2 penalty to Int, Wis, and Cha checks” is terribly uninspiring for a plane of Law. Surely we can do something better.
- Pathfinder-related
- Paths Not Taken, a NaGaDeMon attempt prompted in part by Pathfinder 2e. I like a lot about Pathfinder 2e, here I explore what else could have been done.
- Just the Rules, distilling the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game to it’s actual core rules. This providing a chassis to build up into a new game. Think something like the D&D 3.x Rules Compendium. which explained how the various systems and subsystems worked but did not include the content within that system. That is, explain how classes and spells work, but not include the classes and spells.
- Off the Path, alternate rules for aspects of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game.
- Low Fantasy Gaming
- Rituals of Low Fantasy, presenting options for the Ritual Magic spell. That is, creation of magic items, with all the limitations put upon them within Low Fantasy Gaming.
- Patrons of Low Fantasy, presenting Powers characters might form relationships with, gaining new capabilities… at a cost.
- Sorcery of Low Fantasy, an alternate magic/casting system for Low Fantasy Gaming.
- Making History, a series inspired by Ben Robbins’s Microscope game.
- Board/Card Games
- Seekers of Lore, a West Marches-style campaign I was working on. PCs search out things that were lost during the Age of Upheaval.
- Older USENET Posts, capturing material I posted to rec.games.frp.dnd… some of it’s fairly old now, but I still think some of it’s pretty good.
Time to reach back and work on these again/some more.
happy new year! Looking forward to your future posts.
I also haven’t forgotten on possibly have some campaign/scenario design coaching :) haha.
Take care!
