Divine Trappings: Outstanding Tables, Part 1

I wish I could say this is a list of really good tables. It’s actually a list of the tables yet to be created.

Let’s have a quick look. The other day I posted links to the Divine Trappings tables created so far. These are mostly tables that are outside the domains, but I have some samples from the Knowledge domain. It’s not the full list, though.

When I decided to create an Excel workbook for Divine Trappings, I found there are 33 tables per domain. Let’s reach way back (April 2021) to see the aspects of a domain.

I had expected several fields to just be lists. I’ll probably show them as lists in the book, to save space. They will be simple tables in the workbook for utility.

  1. Portfolio
  2. Symbol
  3. Motif
  4. Manifestation
  5. Color
  6. Favored Weapon
  7. Alignment
  8. Location [named]
  9. Location/Holy Place
  10. Location/Altar
  11. Location/Shrine
  12. Location/Temple
  13. Personality
  14. Servitor/Herald
  15. Servitor/Greater Ally
  16. Servitor/Ally
  17. Servitor/Lesser Ally
  18. Servitor/Summon
  19. Obedience/Time
  20. Obedience/Activity
  21. Artifact [named]
  22. Artifact/Object
  23. Artifact/Prefix
  24. Artifact/Suffix
  25. Quest/Event
  26. Quest/Information
  27. Quest/Location
  28. Quest/Organization
  29. Quest/Person
  30. Quest/Thing
  31. Actor/Person of Interest
  32. Actor/Acts
  33. Actor/Acting

For most of these, the simple table consists of values to consider. That is, the Portfolio table for Knowledge contains ‘wisdom, secrets, and sages’ (in the current draft).

The entries in bold (Location and Artifact) both contain example names. The list below shows four artifacts connected to the Knowledge domain.

  1. Enlightening Quill of Molresh
  2. Lunan’s Insightful Glass
  3. Rol-Golduk’s Bright Orb
  4. Revealing Eye of Ziashansha

I don’t have definitions or descriptions for any of these. They are a starting point if I need something at short notice.

I don’t have examples for location, but I expect I’ll create some. Though it occurs to me, looking at the current draft, those entries aren’t great for naming. These entries generally describe characteristics that can apply to such places. I’ll have to come back to this, I suspect I’ll need to come up with those names the hard way.

Reviewing older posts shows me things I forgot. This is good (no longer forgotten!) and bad (more work!). The list above isn’t even complete! Aspects of a Domain was just a starting point. Things expanded in Elements of Domain Aspects.

… I enjoy taking part in the A-Z Blog Challenge, but it does bad things to my post titles.

In any case, in addition to the table simple tables above, even now it’s not the full list. The other elements will need more thought, so I’ll cover them tomorrow.
